Right place, right time

Every now and then something will happen that restores at least a bit of my faith in humanity. Today was one of those days. I was attempting to get gas using a Costco card I found the other day and was forced to clip a curb. This curb was apparently somehow very sharp and took out both the tires on the passenger side of my vehicle. They needed to be replaced anyway but the reason I hadn't done it yet was because I can't afford it. I very shittily parked in the nearest spot and got out to look at the damage. Both tires big fucked. I'm just staring at them deciding my next move and someone and his wife come along and offer to help me sort things out. When he said that I assumed it was just because he knew how to buy tires and, given I was in a Costco parking lot, the obvious first move was to check their tire prices. He takes down some notes on what tires are on the vehicle and we go inside to check. The guy at the counter says he only has one kind in stock today that he can install just two of (if you aren't replacing all four they have to sort of match or Bad Thingsā„¢ will happen) and they're $217.99 each. The guy who was helping me then reveals that he is fully intending to pay for them and can even give me a ride to work if I needed it. I don't have to be at work today until 3pm but I thanked him at least half a dozen times for paying for the tires. I have absolutely no idea what I would have done otherwise. It ended up being $480 after taxes and fees and such and that's almost a month's rent for me.

Thank you, person I'm intentionally not naming here. Thank you so, so much. I will never forget you.
