im leaving telegram

if you know much about me and have been keeping up with telegram's antics this shouldnt surprise you. actually, it should surprise you that it hadnt happened sooner. it surprises me anyway. unlike the discord post im keeping this one short because i just cant be bothered. the only reason i was still on telegram was because theres a single local group that was keeping me there. also meme channels but those are replaceable. this group doesnt want to move to signal so i guess im leaving it. oh well.

what follows is a non comprehensive list of telegram's failing points:

• the company is run by fascists. they have put nazi dogwhistles in at least one feature announcement blog post.
• they lied about handing data to cops for several years. i always operated under the assumption that they were doing it but they lied about it.
• they did nfts
• damn near every ad on the platform is crypto or sex scams.
• theyre adding grok, twitter's ai.
